Noticed that you can get a DVD of Bobby Bland in Concert

Called "Bobby Blue Band - Live In Memphis: Home Of The Blues" just wondered if anyone had seen or heard it. Having never seen the great man live (and never likely to now) this might be the next bes tthing. Looks as though it was recorded in the 90s and seems to heavily feature his Malaco material.

One of my favourite artists so, on that basis, is it worth getting?

I've got a copy and it's a bit on the average side to be honest...

Bobby's not in bad vocal shape (from around 1996 I think) but some of the performances are a bit perfunctory, especially the early hits ('I Pity The Fool' for example). Understandably majors on his Malaco stuff, and only around an hour in length, it also has a little bit of chat with the great man, but nothing of note.

So, should you buy it? Well of course you should. Average Bland is streaks better than most everyone else and it's just great to see the main man in action

I'd say it was only OK but if you want a record of Bobby live, there isn't much (any) choice. It suffers from the malaise that many Blues DVD's suffer from - too much showbusiness, not enough show. He is however in reasonable voice, understandably not quite as powerful as in his prime, but not bad.

Be honest, if you didn't get it and you ended up not having a document of the man live after he's no longer with us, you'd probably only regret it

Bought it! preety much as described above but still glad I got it. Average Bland is better than on Bobby at all I guess
